Alan Mix is Professor of Ocean Ecology and Biogeochemistry at the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS), Oregon State University, USA, and director of the Stable Isotope Laboratory at COAS. He is co-chair of the PAGES Scientific Steering Committee and serves on the Board of Advisors at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, Kiel, Germany, and MARUM at the University of Bremen, Germany.
His areas of expertise are paleoceanography of surface and deep-ocean circulation using micropaleontological and geochemical tracers; planktonic foraminiferal ecology and paleoecology; and paleoclimatology from cave deposits. Alan holds a PhD in Geology from Columbia University, USA.
