Social Activities

In addition to exciting science the OSM will include a number of fun activities where conference participants can relax and socialize. 

Ice breaker

Tuesday, 12 February at 19:00 - an ice breaker and buffet dinner will be held at the beachfront of Cidade de Goa (entry near the swimming pool). Participants and accompanying people are welcome!

Lunch and breaks

Morning tea/coffee breaks and a buffet lunch will be arranged daily at the Multi-Function Area and the adjacent courtyard; the Laranja Restaurant will also be accessible to participants who prefer more relaxed seating. Post-lunch tea/coffee breaks will be arranged at the sea-facing Zuari lawns, where the posters will be on display.  

Public Lecture

Thursday, 14 February at 18:30 -  Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri Director-General of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi, India & Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will deliver a lecture at the National Institute of Oceanography. The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion with eminent scientists and interactions with the audience. The event will conclude with a “high tea” reception arranged by the National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR). Free transportation will be provided between the venue and all accommodation sites. The exact timings of the buses will be placed on the noticeboards outside the plenary halls.

Conference dinner

Friday, 15 February from 19:00 to 22:00 - the conference dinner and a cultural event will take place at the Laran Lawn, a terraced outdoor venue at the International Centre Goa. Free transportation will be arranged from all official OSM accommodations. Participants and accompanying people are welcome!

Beach soccer

Wednesday, 13 February at 18:00 - get into action with the PAGES Soccer Cup. This beach soccer tournament will take place on the Cidade de Goa Beach. Transportation will be arranged to participants' respective accommodations after the game.
